The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) is strengthening its technical partnership with the Islamic Republic of Iran in upgrading its studio equipment.
A delegation from Iran led by Iranian ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Abbas Navazani toured ZBC studios at Pockets Hill in Harare this Thursday to assess the level of technical assistance that the national broadcaster requires to upgrade its studios.
“Following my meeting with the honourable Minister of Information, I brought our technical delegation to find out about ZBC requirements. The company has a huge capacity to cooperate with Minister of Information and ZBC. They are finding the requirements of ZBC. In the near future we will have cooperation in the supply of equipment as well as training of personnel,” he said.
ZBC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Adelaide Chikunguru shed more light on the tour, “This is a follow up to other conversations we had. ZBC has an existing MOU with Iran. The MOU touches on many aspects such as technology share, skills transfer. This is one of their follow up visit on upgrading our studio equipment. We have five studios that need upgrade. We are extending this MOU to include radio technology and we have identified six station that require an upgrade.”
The partnership will also see ZBC receiving equipment for its Outside Broadcast Services, transmitters and satellite related services.
