THE Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) is optimistic of implementing its targeted multi-million dollar projects this year amid revelations that the society is concluding discussions with a prospective investor for the construction of a shopping mall.
The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS), which recorded a historical financial performance for the year ending 30 September 2019, is buoyant of sustaining this trajectory and investing in more projects.
The society indicated during its Annual General Meeting convened in Harare this Thursday that some of the projects such as the fuel station are already complete while the multi-million dollar shopping mall project looks set to kick off this year.
“Several meetings were held with the prospective developer during the year, although notable progress has been made, several issues await finalization. The building permit and the environmental impact assessment report are both at the final approval stages,” he said.
The society had a surplus of 4.4 million Zimbabwe dollars last year as compared to a 401 000 Zimbabwe dollars loss the previous year hence there is confidence that the positive performance will be sustained this year.
“Total income exceeded prior year by 240 percent. Show income continued to be dominated source of revenue and profit, accounting for 74 per cent of total income. The financial performance for the year ended 30 September 2019 was the best for the past recent years contributing to continued strengthening of the society’s balance sheet,” he said.
This year, ZAS targets to highlight the need to harness national efforts towards sustainable agricultural production for national food sufficiency.
