THE ZANU PF Youth League is set to hold the 7th Elective Conference in May this year, Acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tendai Chirau confirmed on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media at the party’s headquarters, Cde Chirau said President Emmerson Mnangagwa approved the conference last week during the 361st Ordinary Session of the Politburo.
“As the Youth League, we are ready for the 7th Elective National Youth Conference. The Politburo approved the holding of the conference as stipulated in the party constitution,” said Cde Chirau.
Cde Chirau added that the conference will run under the theme, ‘Vision 2030 – Revitalise Empower, Involve the Youth’ and will run from the 4th to the 8th of May 2022.
About 4 500 delegates are expected at the conference.
The Acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs also emphasised that positions in the youth league will be contested by those who are 35 years and below.
“There are vacancies that arose due to the elections, which will be filled according to the guidelines given by the party. Curriculum Vitaes for those who wish to contest in the National Executive of the youth league should be submitted to the District Coordinators.”
“The CVs should cover one’s political history and be accompanied by recommendation letters by the district chairpersons of both the Youth League and Main Wing. All aspiring candidates for the youth league National Executive Council should be aged below 35 years. The First Secretary and President of the party, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, will be the guest speaker at the conference, which will attract members from sister liberation parties in the region,” he said.
