ZANU PF youth league Acting Deputy Secretary, Tendai Chirau has urged young and eligible people to participate in the wing’s elections which start from cell up to the national level.

In line with a directive from the Zanu PF Politburo that the youth and women’s leagues of the revolutionary party must hold elections for new leadership before September this year, the youth league is mobilising structures to ensure posts are filled from the cell level.

Zanu PF Acting Deputy Secretary for youth affairs Cde Tendai Chirau said it is important for young people to take part in these elections as a way of strengthening party’s structures.

“Currently, there is cell programmes going, which will move on to branch level, then provincial and ultimately national elections,” said Chirau.

“This is a party strengthening exercise which young people from the age of 16 to 35. There is no room for age cheating, we need young people with the correct age to take up leadership positions within the party.

“These elections are being supervised by the commissariat department.”

ZANU PF is using these internal elections to strengthen the party as it targets five million votes in the 2023 general elections.
