MORE than 100 women drawn from across Zvishavane district completed a life skills training programme organised by the Zanu PF Women’s League in Zvishavane this Tuesday.
The ruling ZANU PF party is continuing to make strides in empowering women, with the Zvishavane community being the latest to benefit from the party’s life-changing skills training programme.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment programme noted that the skills they got will go a long way in changing livelihoods in their respective communities.
“Zvatawana pano zvichabobatsira vamwe vasara kudzimba nekuti tinenge tave kugona kuzviitira semadzimai, (what we have learnt here will help us and those who we left behind as we will now be able to do it for ourslves). Maprojects aya akanaka sesu vari kumaruwa tinokwanisa kunotanga mimwe mikana yanga isiko uyehatichaswere tichinetsa vana baba panhau dzemari tinenge tozvisevenzera, (these projects are good especially for us from the rural areas as we have new opportunities and we will not spend time fighting at home about money issues),” said one beneficiary.
Midlands Province Proportional Representative Honourable Colleta Mutambisi, noted that the skills training was in line with government’s national development strategy one (NDS1) which strives to provide sustainable livelihoods in communities.
“Vatungamiriri vatipa ruzivo vachanopawo vamwe mberi kwavachaenda, uye takatarisa dingindira re NDS1 re food and nutrition tichaona kuti zvavadzidza vachakwanisa kuitawo zvinoita kuti mhuri dzavo dzirarame nekuda kwechikamu chema projects Aya,(the community leaders that have been taught will impart the knowledge they have got to others and in line with NDS1 on food and nutrition they will ensure their families are healthy and have enough as a result of these projects),” said Honourable Mutambisi.
The women were trained in washing powder making, detergents, soap, petroleum jelly and dress making, among others.
