ZANU PF has poured scorn at recent claims by Lord Jonathan Oates in the British Parliament that opposition leader Douglas Mwonzora is a ruling party project saying it is the highest level of imperial arrogance.

According to media reports, the British parliament was told that MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora is a Zanu PF party project.

However, the ruling party has dismissed the claims attributed to Lord Jonathan Oates as false adding that Britain should stop interfering in Zimbabwean affairs.

Zanu PF spokesperson Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa said Lord Oates’ statement has exposed the dark hand of British intrusion in Zimbabwe’s internal affairs.

“There are persistent efforts by the British to involve themselves in Zimbabwe issues. This is against the dictates of certain charters. The opposition has a chance to be decision makers and they choose to work with the opposition,” saidAmbassador Mutsvangwa.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa also challenged Citizens for Coalition Change leader Nelson Chamisa to own up on whether he’s for Zimbabwe or foreign interests.

“Why can’t he respect aspects of the constitution. Why would he as a patriotic Zimbabwean allow a foreigner to choose between himself over Mwonzora, we allow him to be in opposition because he’s a Zimbabwean. We appeal to opposition they should denounce this Lord Oates which says Mwonzora is better. Chamisa had the occasion to call for National discourse. Is he doesn’t it makes it right that we have a PVO and Patriotic bill,” he said.

The Zanu PF spokesperson also reiterated the need for Zimbabwe to use its own currency.
