VERIFICATION and collation of results is underway for the Zanu PF primary elections held this Friday, with only a few areas set to conclude voting this Saturday.
The revolutionary Zanu PF party held its primary elections this Friday to choose candidates who will represent the party in March’s by-elections.
With voting having ended in most parts of the country, ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha said results have started trickling in at the national command centre.
“We had successful primary elections were voting has ended except in or two provinces where we had challenges owing to distances between polling stations as well as the rains. What is happening now is that counting and collation is happening in most provinces, results are being moved to command centres.
“In Harare provinces, the national command centre has received the results. So by end of day today, we hope all provinces would have finished voting and post results at various centres,” he said.
Dr Bimha expressed his gratitude to the electorate for coming in their numbers, saying the elections were a success.
“We are happy that the elections were successful and also that the electorate came in their numbers to exercise their right to vote,” he said.
The winning candidates will represent the party in by-elections slated for the 26th of March this year.
