ZANU PF First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has underscored the need for members to adhere to the party constitution.
ZANU PF First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa held an interface meeting with the party’s provincial chairpersons and leaders of the Youth, Women and War Veterans wings, in Harare this Monday.
The meeting was held at the party headquarters where the issue of the reinstatement of DCCs came under the spotlight after it was agreed upon and adopted at the Esigodini People’s conference.
“The resolution is now been implemented in line with the Party Constitution which defines the quality of structures and leadership. Those in position of leadership at provincial leadership have the quality to lead………The Party Constitution is the Bible which we must all adhere to. Those who follow the Party Constitution will flourish while those who disregard it will not prosper………..ZANU PF members must be loyal to the Party as required by Section 21 of the Constitution. Loyalty must be to the Party, not individuals. We have witnessed uncouth behaviour by some members, such conduct is alien to the Party. Members must remain resolute in fighting imposition of candidates……….Vote-buying will not be tolerated and we must remain alive to those imposed by the G40,” he said.
The President outlined how DCC elections will be conducted going forward.
On the economic front, the President noted how the country is leveraging the economic recovery in the mining sector.
“Mining will also be key to reviving the economy and we are looking at growing the sector into a US$12 billion industry. In order to achieve the goals outlined I appointed VP Chiwenga to head the economic ministries while VP Mohadi heads the social ministries. So we must engage them when we are in need,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the two Vice Presidents; Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi; Zanu PF national chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri; Zanu PF National Political Commissar Cde Victor Matemadanda and Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu.
