ZANU PF says it is confident of retaining the Mwenezi ward 15 council seat which fell vacant following the death of Edson Chauke in November last year.
Samuel Kwinika will be representing the ruling ZANU PF party in the by-election set for the 8th of next month with the provincial leadership having intensified campaigns as they seek to retain the seat.
Addressing villagers at a campaign rally in Mateke, Mwenezi west legislator, Priscilla Zindari Moyo, said she is confident of victory in the polls, while highlighting the need to rehabilitate roads in the area and ensure villagers are provided with adequate food aid in the face of drought.
“Ma votes tinokuvimbisayi kuti anouya. Asi chairman, kuno kunenzara, hwiye ma road mangozviomerawo kuti haasi kuita,”(We promise you votes but the issue of hunger and roads has to be addressed chairman), said Zindari.
ZANU PF chairman for Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira assured villagers that the government is working round the clock to uplift livelihoods through infrastructure rehabilitation.
“Ndokuvimbisayi kuti tichagadzirisa zvinhu kuno . Migwagwa, Zvibhorane tanzwa zvichemo zvenyu vabereki,”(I promise to address your grievances, roads, boreholes, we have heard your problems parents), said Minister Chadzamira
Minister Chadzamira also urged villagers in Ward 15 to go out in their numbers to vote for the party’s candidate. A star rally is set for Chisume primary school in Mwenezi this Saturday with members of the ZANU PF national leadership expected to attend.
