THE ruling ZANU PF party is gearing up for the 2023 general elections through directing provincial chairpersons and political commissars to rejuvenate party structures to achieve the targeted five million votes.
The revolutionary ZANU PF party is strengthening its structures ahead of 2023 general elections with provincial chairpersons and political commissars meeting the party leadership to map the way forward.
Briefing journalists in Harare this Thursday, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the party comes first ahead of personal gain.
“Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri emphasised the importance of the meeting, it was a meeting to review and remind ourselves the task ahead, focusing on the preparations for the coming National People’s Conference in October in Mashonaland Central and thereafter because we are focusing on the harmonised elections earmarked for 2023. The attendees were advised that in any situation we are in, the party comes first. It must never be the party which some people think belongs to them. The provincial ministers of state and devolution, provincial chairpersons and political commissars fully understood the message,” he said.
The meeting also emphasised the importance of unity within the party.
“Key of course is the matter of unity within the party, it was unity because without unity there is no peace and with no peace there is no any development. So, we must ensure as a party that we are united from all levels, from the cell to the central committee. Everybody was being reminded if their responsibilities that they should when return to their provinces that the party must be rejuvenated. Ensure that the structures are all united starting from the cell, and once you are part of the cell you also become part of the structures,” he said.
Zanu PF is targeting five million votes in the 2023 elections.
