Members of the Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (ZICOSU) in Masvingo Province have pledged to rally behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa during the upcoming 2023 harmonised elections.

This came out at a ZICOSU engagement meeting with the ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha, held at Masvingo Polytechnic College on Friday.

ZICOSU president, Mr Pijiwest Nhamburo said on the sidelines of the meeting as youths, they will contribute towards mobilising votes for the ruling party.

“As evidenced by the fruitful meeting we had today, which was attended by several students from across the province, we would like to assure our President that we will mobilise votes for the ruling party. This project is also a build up initiative of the national students’ executive to be held on Harare where ZICOSU will host President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” he said.

National Political Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha said such engagements are expected to fully inform government on the challenges that students, in tertiary institutions across the country are facing.

“I commend what these students are doing, they have chosen a peaceful way to share with us the challenges they are facing and I will make sure that all that they said here reaches the relevant ministers in order for them to get assistance.”

Meanwhile, the meeting also saw youths who have not yet registered to vote being updated over the importance of registration.
