THE Victoria Falls community has been reminded of the urgent need for vigilance and collaborative efforts in ensuring the premier tourist resort remains a safe destination in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 infections.
Responsible behaviour and strict adherence to the lockdown regulations has been sighted as critical in ensuring international tourists maintain confidence in Victoria Falls as a hospitable and safe destination.
In a demonstration of its resolve to implement people-centered interventions, the ZANU PF Hwange District Coordinating Committee Chairperson Mr Matthew Muleya said the party has availed vehicles in support of the Victoria Falls rapid response team.
We are saying as a party we appreciate the important role that the frontline workers are playing in the fight against the invisible enemy. We will not leave you alone. We know the challenges that you are facing and we have decided to assist in addressing that transport challenges that you are facing, he said.
Acting Hwange District Medical Officer Dr Seleman Saidi commended the revolutionary party for supporting the fight against Covid-19 in the district.
We really appreciate all the support that you are giving us. The vehicles that you have availed to the rapid response team and your future input will certainly go a long way in the fight against covid-19 in our community,” said Seleman.
Meanwhile, the Hwange District Covid-19 response team says it remains on high alert and has intensified the ongoing disinfection and surveillance at the ports of entry which include Kazungula and Victoria Falls border posts as well as the Victoria Falls International Airport.
