THE YOUNG Mighty Warriors technical team says preparations for the World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in March are progressing well.
As the clock winds down to Zimbabwe’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier away to Ethiopia on the 22nd of this month, the Young Mighty Warriors technical team has expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far.
Having retained the core of the squad that beat Malawi in the opening phase of the qualifiers, assistant coach Nomsa “Boys” Moyo says emphasis has been on the physical aspects of the game.
“Our problem was on fitness because as you know it’s still off season in the women’s league but we have since worked on that and we are still polishing up here and then but we are good to go. The girls have been responding well and we are quite impressed,” she said.
With only seven days left before the team departs for Addis Ababa, Moyo added that they will continue working hard to get positive result to boost their chances of qualifying for the Under-20 Women’s World Cup set for Costa Rica and Panama.
“We are fully aware of the task which lies ahead of us but we are expecting to get a positive result in Ethiopia,” she added.
Head coach, Rosemary Mugadza and her technical team will, in the next few days, trim down the 24-member squad to 18 before travelling to Addis Ababa for the tie.
