World has wrong information on Zimbabwe state of affairs – Professor Vladimir Shubin

Visiting Russian academic Professor Vladimir Shubin says he has been impressed by the positive developments currently taking place in the country in sharp contrast to the misinformation peddled by international media.

The image of Zimbabwe that has been portrayed on various forums on the international scene ignores the strides and developments currently taking place in the country.

Speaking to ZBC News in Harare this Thursday, visiting Russian top academic Professor Vladimir Shubin said the Zimbabwean media and academics have a huge role to play in correcting the misinformation.

“There is a lot of mis-information about Zimbabwe, so-called mismanagement. You would think the country has almost collapsed, but when you see the country it is developing, as media you should do a lot to correct that and academics too,” he said.

The academic also spoke on the economic ties between Zimbabwe and Russia, particularly in the mining sector, emphasising the need to increase cooperation and relations between the two countries.

“You can love each other very much but unless you have economic ties that will be useless.”

Zimbabwe and Russia have strong ties dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.
