GOVERNMENT has pledged to expedite road infrastructure development in Chikomba District to improve accessibility to outlying areas.

Addressing ZANU PF supporters at a mass mobilisation meeting at Sadza Growth Point in Chikomba District at the weekend, several government ministers said the completion of the Wedza Sadza Road, which is left with 10km, is a government priority.

We know the challenges in this district regarding roads which has to be fixed including the Wedza Sadza road which we have to complete,” said Hon Felix Mhona, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

As a party, we are going to make sure that all roads are fixed before the coming rain season,” said National Housing and social Amenities Minister, Hon Daniel Garwe.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon Sekai Nzenza said, “The issue of roads has been a big challenge in this area and we hope it will be attended to.”

The move comes after Cyclone Idai and heavy rains of 2019 and 2020 left a trail of destruction in Chikomba District with some bridges having been washed away.
