THE Warriors squad for the back to back World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia is expected to be named today.
Following the pronouncement by the World Leagues Forum (WLF), a professional body which represents over 40 of the World’s top leagues, that clubs are not obliged to release players for the upcoming international break due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the squad is expected to feature the bulk of South African based stars.
England based midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, defenders Tendayi Darikwa, Jordan Zemura and Brendan Galloway who had already posted his delight with the Warriors call are expected to be omitted from the squad.
Tino Kadewere and Marshall Munetsi who are based in France together with United States based Teenage Hadebe are also affected by the WLF decision and are most likely not going to be released by their clubs.
There is however some respite with captain Knowledge Musona available to lead the squad as the protocols in the United Arab Emirates are different from those by European countries.
Striker Prince Dube who rescued a point in the last Warriors home game is back to full fitness and could play a crucial role if selected.
