Warriors looking forward to bouncing back

The Zimbabwe Senior Men National Football Team, the Warriors take on Ethiopia in their second match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the City of Bahir Dar this Tuesday.

It will be a scramble for points in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia this Tuesday as Zimbabwe squares off with the East Africans in a World Cup qualifier.

The Warriors will be gunning for maximum points after a poor start in which they were held to a goalless draw by an experimental South African Side at the National Sports Stadium last Friday.

On the other side, Ethiopia are even in a more desperate situation after a one-nil defeat away to West African giants Ghana.

Warriors head coach Zidravko Logarusic spoke on the team’s chances ahead of the encounter.

It will be a difficult game but anyway we have some progress about the players that are not here, he said.

France-based striker Tinotenda Kadewere will miss Ethiopia match after aggravating a thigh injury in the match against South Africa.

Meanwhile, The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has secured a financial motivational package for the Warriors ahead of the match against Ethiopia.

In a statement, ZIFA board member- Finance Phillemon Machana said the financial package of 64 thousand United States dollars was secured through the local football mother body’s Interim Fundraising Committee with a helping hand from the deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Honourable Tino Machakaire.

Machana said the funds which will be channelled directly in cash or to Nostro bank accounts of recipients will be shared equally by all players and the technical team in the event of a win against Ethiopia.

In another development Major League Soccer side, Houston Dynamo continue to sing the blues despite barring Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe from travelling for the world cup qualifiers after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat to Portland Timbers.
