Warriors gunning for three points

THE Warriors whose COSAFA Cup campaign has been left hanging by a thread are set to face their toughest opponents at the tournament when they take on African giants Senegal this Tuesday.
Sunday’s two nil defeat to Namibia left the record winners, on the brink of elimination COSAFA tournament in South Africa with just two points from three matches.
Going into Tuesday’s match, the Zdravko Logarusic coached sided need to be at their best as they clash against African giants, Senegal who sent in a developmental team.
The two teams have never met at COSAFA tournament but they have played against each other eight times, with the Warriors and the Lions of Teranga having won four matches apiece.
However, the Warriors have found the going tough in recent meetings with Zimbabwe’s last victory over Senegal having been way back in 1999 after the two sides met in an AFCON qualifier at the National Sports Stadium.
Three other meetings after that victory have gone in the favour of the Lions of Teranga, with the recent one being a two-nil defeat at AFCON 2017.
The Senegalese, who are guests at this year’s tournament have won one of their two encounters so far, while the Warriors are yet to taste victory in three matches.
The Warriors need an outright victory to have any hopes of progressing to the semi-finals as defeat in this Tuesday encounter will seal their fate.
Meanwhile, former footballers and fans have taken to social media to vent their frustrations over the Warriors poor showing.
