PREPARATIONS for the War Veterans League Elective Conference slated for early next month are underway with district and provincial structures being set up.

The revolutionary ZANU PF party continues to strengthen its wings ahead of the 2023 General Elections with the latest being the War Veterans League Elective Conference.

Stakeholders convened a meeting at the party headquarters in Harare to map the way forward regarding the elective conference.

“We are giving guidance of ZANU PF to the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle. Over the years, they have not been properly structured like the other organs such as the Youth League and Women’s League, so this meeting is a preparatory meeting of all stakeholders. We are giving them roadmap on elections this July which will culminate into a conference which I will chair, said ZANU National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha disclosed that they are setting up structures for the War Veterans League starting from district level.

“We have always had structures for the Youth and Women, but we didn’t have structures for the War Veterans League, so before we have this conference we must have structures from District level to Provincial level. This will ultimately have national structures. We are setting the elective conference for early August,” he said.

ZANU PF has already conducted elective conferences for the Women and Youth leagues, with the newly elected members tasked with implementing a robust membership mobilisation strategy ahead of 2023 General Elections.
