VP Chiwenga in Indonesia for WASH conference

VICE President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia for the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) High Level Sector Ministers meeting which gets underway on Wednesday.

Vice President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care is leading a five-team ministerial delegation that superintends over water, sanitation and hygiene issues.

Dr Chiwenga was met at the Soerkano Hatta International Airport by the Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Her Excellency Sophia Nyamudeza, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dewa Sastrawan and officials from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.

“The conference is going to be attended by a number of countries which are going to be involved and so with these countries coming together we are going to share ideas and experiences we have in our different countries so that we will be able to improve the situation in our own countries when it comes to the issue of sanitation, water and hygiene,” he said.

The 2022 WASH High Level Sector meeting, set to be held from the 18th to the 19th of May, is meant to create a platform for represented countries to propel delivery and achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Number six, of ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Zimbabwe is a signatory to the sanitation and water for all partnership.
