CHIEF Justice Luke Malaba has postponed the hearing of an appeal by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga regarding the custody of his children to next month.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga approached the Supreme Court contesting a ruling by the High Court that granted his estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa custody of their three minor children and access to their matrimonial home.
The matter was heard and lawyers’ representing the two parties consented to the urgent hearing of the matter before the Chief Justice Malaba postponed it to March.
The case was postponed on the basis that Mubaiwa’s defence, Advocate Taona Nyamakura intends to travel to Rwanda.
In another case, former Tourism minister, Priscah Mupfumira has filed for her case to be referred to the constitutional court after her bid to have the matter postponed was dismissed at the Harare magistrates court this Thursday.
Mupfumira, also had her application of exception of charge dismissed by regional magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi.
Mupfumira is facing charges of criminal abuse of office and is jointly charged with former Permanent Secretary Ngoni Masoka for siphoning millions of dollars from the National Social Security Authority (NSSA).
In another case, socialite and businessman, Genius Kadungure popularly known as Ginimbi will spend another night behind bars after Deputy Chief Magistrate Chrispen Mberewere failed to deliver a ruling on his bail application.
Harare magistrate, Vongai Muchuchuti said Mberewere was tied up and not available for the ruling.
Kadungure, who is facing charges of fraud for paying undervalued duty for his Bentley motor vehicle he bought from South Africa, will appear in court this Friday for bail ruling.
