Victoria Falls to host high profile boxing events

ZIMBABWE is set to host the first-ever World Boxing Council All Africa Officials Training Workshop and the Africa Boxing Union Convention in the resort city of Victoria Falls from July 25 to July 30.

Delegates across the globe are expected to attend the World Boxing Council All Africa officials training which will run from the July 25 to July 27 and the Africa Boxing Union Convention which will run from July 27 to July 30 and both events are set to change the landscape of the sport locally.

Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board Matebeleland North Coordinator Wisdom Likistho says they are excited to hold the first-ever high-profile boxing events set to aid growth of the sport.

“As a province we are happy to be hosting the two high profile events, surely this is a plus to our country, the province and the sport in general. We look forward to fruitful engagements as will exchange notes with countries that have a gone a step higher in developing the game,” he said.

The boxing sporting in Zimbabwe is on a recovery trajectory after disruption of its calendar by Covid-19.
