Victoria Falls ready to host the five nations boxing friendly championship

BOXERS have started arriving for the Five Nations Boxing Friendly Championship tournament set for this Saturday in the resort town of Victoria Falls, with Zimbabwean superstar boxer Charles Manyuchi expected to be among the dignitaries.

Boxing enthusiasts from Victoria Falls will be in for a treat as the newly launched Victoria Falls Boxing Academy in partnership with the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation will host five nations boxing friendly tournament.

The tournament has attracted boxers from Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Victoria Falls Boxing Academy Chairperson, Danielle Connolly says all is in place for the boxing tournament.

“We have done all the necessary homework and it is all systems go. We have started receiving some of the boxers and are currently putting some final touches to the venue,” he said.

Zimbabwean boxing superstar, Charles Manyuchi will be the guest of honour at the tournament.

Zimbabwe Boxing Federation (ZBF) representative, Mr Arvian Mathe says the association is proud to be associated with the tournament.

“As an association, we are looking forward to a successful event and hope that the local boxers will make use of the event to learn from their counterparts and above all make us proud,” said Mathe.

Meanwhile, the Manyuchi Boxing Academy has announced that one of the elite amateur boxers from their training academy, Brandon Denes will be among the boxers representing the country at the tourney.

The Zimbabwean amateur team also includes Freeman Mabvongwe, Prosperous Bhaskiti, Ndabazinhle Phiri, Prince Urengwa and Victoria Falls-based Personal Mpofu.
