VICE President Kembo Mohadi says the government is fully aware of efforts by the country’s detractors to sabotage the economy and create instability in the country.
VP Mohadi said this while addressing members of the Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee in Gwanda this Saturday where he spoke on the economic situation in the country and measures being taken by the government to restore stability.
He explained the role of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and mobile money institutions in fuelling the black market and the devaluation of the local currency.
He said Zimbabweans should be vigilant as the hand of the enemy is at play.
“People are complaining about the high cost of goods and service, there are cries over inflation but it is not the government’s fault. There is an invisible hand that is working around the clock to destabilise our economy and to ensure that our money has no value.”
Vice President Mohadi said it is the responsibility of patriotic and progressive Zimbabweans to work together in countering economic saboteurs by using the country’s abundant resources to enhance production in all key sectors.
“We have our land, we have mineral resources, we have vast water bodies that if we fully utilise we can be our own economic liberators. We are on our own, no one will come to help us.”
The Vice President, who is also the COVID-19 Inter-Ministerial Taskforce Chairperson, stressed the need for the citizenry to fully observe the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines to minimise local transmissions of the deadly pandemic.
“Most of the cases that we have are imported cases. What we have to strive to do is ensure that we don’t start having local transmission. We have seen how developed countries are struggling with the increase in such cases and we do not want to find ourselves there.”
The meeting also attended by members of the provincial development committee saw the political leadership placing emphasis on COVID -19 awareness campaigns in all communities across the province.
