The remaining three qualifying rounds for the U20 women’s world cup will be played in September, October and November 2020, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The preliminary round was played before the Covid-19 induced lock-down, the remaining three qualifying rounds will now be played in September, October and November 2020.
Zimbabwe eliminated Malawi on a 1-0 aggregate score in February setting up a first round clash with Ethiopia.
The two first round legs will take place between 3 and 12 September while the second and third round will be played as follows:
First leg 1 – 3 October
Second leg 8 – 10 October
First leg 5 – 7 November
Second leg 12 – 14 November
Preparations for the tie against Ethiopia (22 & 27 March) were already at an advanced stage at the ZIFA village when camp was dissolved due to covid-19.
Then, the final tournament was set to take place in August 2020 but the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has since moved the tournament to January 2021.
