FORMER Zanu PF youth secretary for commissariat, Godfrey Tsenengamu has been expelled from the party after the politburo made a unanimous decision to have him expelled due to his continued disparaging of senior party members.
Addressing members of the media at the 337th Politburo Session at the party’s headquarters in the capital, Zanu PF’s Secretary for Administration, Obert Mpofu said, Tsenengamu failed to take heed of the recommendations by the Politburo and further put the party in disrepute with his behaviour.
Tsenengamu, the then youth secretary, Pupurai Togarepi and his deputy Lewis Matutu were suspended from the party for failing to respect Politburo decisions after they, he and Matutu addressed members of the media naming and shaking individuals they said were corrupt “without evidence to support their claims.”
“We noted the sterling work being done by the Hebert Chitepo School of Ideology and the politburo committed its support for the Ideological programmes to continue at provincial and ward level. More emphasis has been placed to target the youth as the future of the party,” said, Mpofu.
“The politburo noted that some of the issues which are bringing the party into disrepute are hinged on the indiscipline of the party cadres hence the need for the Chitepo School of Ideology to take a leading role in redirecting party members. As such, a unanimous resolution was passed today by the politburo that the former youth secretary for commissariat, Godfrey Tsenengamu be expelled with immediate effect due to his continued disparaging of senior party members and the second republic party discipline is sacrosanct and party leadership will act on any misguided malcontents.”
Meanwhile, during the same address, it was revealed that Matutu is currently attending the school of Ideology as per instructions by the Politburo as this is a mandatory course for him to be reinstated in the party.
“A decision was taken in our last meeting directing Tsenengamu and the other suspended party members to do certain things before their readmission after a year and the others have followed the terms of the decision and they have not been saying anything in defiance against the decision by the politburo, as we speak right now, Cde Matutu is attending the Chitepo Ideology sessions as directed by the Politburo.”
