A Harare bound truck driver is lucky to be alive after his vehicle which was transporting 20 cattle was involved in an accident along the Harare – Nyamapanda Highway.
Kapureyi Kawara was transporting the 20 cattle from Mayo area in Manicaland province to an abattoir in Shamva, Mashonaland East province when the accident occurred near Murewa centre early Friday morning.
Kawara told ZBC News that he lost control of the vehicle when he tried to avoid a stationary haulage truck.
The vehicle overturned with two of the cattle dying on the spot while the driver escaped without injuries.
“I was travelling from Mayo to Shamva and I tried to avoid this truck which was blocking the road, fortunately no one was injured,” said Kapureyi Kawara the truck driver.
When ZBC News arrived at the scene, villagers were busy assisting workers from the abattoir with rescue efforts.
