Tropical Storm Ana: heavy rains pound Manicaland

HEAVY rains have started falling in Manicaland province as a result of tropical depression Ana that is expected to stretch to Thursday this week.

The effects of tropical depression Ana characterised by heavy rains and in some cases, strong winds have started to be felt in the province, with Nyanga recording the highest figures in terms of rainfall.

Nyanga district, had received 120 milli-metres of rainfall as of this Tuesday, with reports indicating that some roof tops had been blown off.

Chisengu area in Chimamimani had received 79.9 milli-metres this Tuesday morning while it has also been raining in the other districts such as Mutare which recorded 28mm this morning while Rusape recorded 22.6 milli-metres.

Chipinge town has recorded 15.7mm with Chisumbanje in the same district recording 1.1 milli-metres as of this morning.

Evacuation centres have already been set up for those affected by the tropical depression.
