Tropical storm Ana destroys houses and infrastructure in Manicaland

VARIOUS communities in Manicaland province have been affected by Tropical Storm Ana with houses and infrastructure being destroyed.

The number of houses that have been affected by tropical storm Ana has gone up from 11 yesterday to 34 this Wednesday.

Nyanga is the hardest hit, with 14 houses being affected followed by Mutasa with eleven.

Chimanimani had three houses while other affected families are in Buhera, Makoni, Chipinge and Mutare.

Five culverts have also been destroyed in Buhera while two bridges in Nyanga and Chipinge gave in to the storm.

The heavy rains have so far damage five roads in Buhera, Chipinge, Mutasa and Nyanga.

Information obtained at the moment indicates that Chimanimani recorded 404.5 milli-metres of rainfall while figures for Nyanga are yet to be updated but the total provincial figure exceeds 880 milli-metres.
