A 25-year-old suspected robber who allegedly stabbed his victim on the head with a broken bottle before getting away with cash has been arraigned before the courts.
Emmanuel Anesu Gumbodete appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda facing charges of robbery, stock theft and five counts of unlawful entry.
In the robbery case, Gumbodete allegedly demanded cash and valuables from the complainant who was coming from work, before stabbing the complainant several times on the head using a broken glass bottle.
The court heard that Gumbodete also broke into five houses on separate occasions targeting electrical gadgets.
The accused allegedly stole property worth over half a million Zimbabwe dollars.
He was remanded in custody to the 1st of April 2022.
Meanwhile, Sarah Jabangwe, aged 25 and Martha Vunganai (43) appeared in court on charges of theft after they allegedly connived to steal from Jabangwe’s boss.
The court heard that Jabangwe, who was employed as a maid by the complainant, worked with Vunganai and a man who is suspected to be Vunganai’s lover to steal property from her boss.
It is alleged that they hired a truck to carry various household items that they intended to sell.
The complainant was alerted by his neighbor and he reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the pair.
The third suspect is yet to be arrested.
