A suspected serial killer and rapist who had caused a reign of terror in Marondera and surrounding areas has been arrested by the police and is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

Although the reports could not be officially confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police as national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi and Provincial spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii were not picking their phones, reliable sources say the suspect was arrested this Saturday and has so far admitted to having commited a number of murders in Mashonaland east and manicaland.

Among the crimes he is alleged to have committed is the murder of a Marondera lady pastor in the Grasslands area and that of 61-year-old elderly woman from Dombotombo, whom he raped before killing them.

He is also linked to the murder of five other women from Marondera, Wedza and Macheke.

It is said the accused would approach ladies of the night and on the pretext of wanting to spend some time with them, he would attack them either on their way to their love nest or after being intimate with them.

Others were killed after being raped. The suspect would also collect mobile phones and cash from his victims.
