FOLLOWING government’s relaxation of lockdown guidelines, the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) has announced adjustments of operating times for registered sport and recreation facilities in the country.
As various sectors of the economy are slowly returning to normal and pursuant to recommendations made by the SRC on behalf of the sport and recreation sector to the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, operating hours for gyms and clubs have been adjusted to between 0630 in the morning and 1830 in the evening with immediate effect.
In a statement, the SRC indicated that this reprieve was only applicable to registered clubs and gyms, with those yet to fall under this category urged to formalise their operations with relevant statutory bodies.
While the need to follow Covid-19 prevention and containment measures remains critical, this will come as sweet news to sport and fitness enthusiasts who have had to bear with reduced action time.
A number of sport associations have been lamenting lack of activity saying it will cost them during international meets as other countries have started to return to full action although without fans.
Local sport, however, still remains as was, with codes classified differently.
Those deemed low risk have been allowed to get back to life under stipulated conditions while for others there is yet to be a green light.
