Vladimir Leonov, Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that the meeting of BRICS sports ministers held on the margins of the Games was productive. He added that the meeting resulted in the adoption of documents that will regulate further activities of the agencies and their co-operation.

“The main thing is that all of us – both athletes and spectators enjoyed it. This was a new project, there have never been competitions of this rank within the BRICS community. We set the bar incredibly high. Many athletes compare the Games in terms of the level of preparation to the Olympics. There is a great future for this format. Our colleagues from Brazil said it will be a bit difficult for them at the next Games, but we will help them,” said the minister.

Akshay Unecha, a dancer from India, thanked Russia for organising the Games. “Firstly, this is a great opportunity for all of us because the BRICS Games are very important for all countries. It is necessary to show everyone that sport is peace and love that unites everyone,” he shared his emotions.

Representatives of 82 countries took part in the Games. Some 3,000 athletes from South and North America, Europe, Asia and Africa competed in 27 sports. The event was covered by 750 media personnel from 18 countries.
