Hwange FC hit by player exodus

Story by Mhlomuli Ncube

HWANGE Football Club is racing against time to assemble a full squad for the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season after the team was hit by a player exodus.

Hwange have begun their 2024 season preparations on a low note after the club lost 10 key players with Chipangano struggling to fill the gaps.

Chipangano lost goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya to Green Fuel, Brighton Makopa has joined Chicken Inn, Brandon Rendo has moved to Bulawayo giants Highlanders and Brian Mlotshwa will be turning out for Arenel.

“We need to beef up our defence, we are looking for central backs because that department is in serious need of beefing up,” said Hwange FC Goalkeepers Coach, Edmore ‘MaMkhwebu’ Sibanda.

Meanwhile, Hwange have recruited four veterans Xolisani Moyo from Green Fuel, Newman Sianchali who was with Triangle, and the duo of Winston Mhango and Phakamani Dube from ZPC Hwange.

Goalkeeper Bhekithemba Ncube who was at CAPS United last season is also hoping to make it into the first team at Chipangano this season.
