Handball Federation prepares for the Zone VI Super Cup Championships

Story by Grace Sibanda

THE Zimbabwe Handball Federation held a national championship tournament this weekend in Bulawayo which serves as a qualifier for The Zone Six Club Championships.

An exceptional show of teamwork and sportsmanship was quite evident at the United College of Education’s grounds as Southern region teams played it off to qualify for the Zone VI Super Club Cup.

Despite the competition being stiff, athletes were confident of a win.

Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) Southern Region Chapter Chairperson, Mr Taurai Mberekwa relayed that eight male teams and six female teams were competing for prestige at the tournament.

“We have eight male teams and six female teams that are competing for prestige and honours to make it to the Super Cup in December. Teams to look out for include Ajax Club, Bulawayo Handball Association and Filabusi Queens as well. These teams are all exceptional but only 4 teams can make it to the National finals,” he said.

The top four teams during the tournament are set to play against other teams in the Zone VI Super Cup Club championships to be staged in Chitungwiza this December.
