Veteran South African gospel music sensation Winnie Mashaba is in the country for a collaborative act with local gospel artist Tatenda Mahachi.

The revered songstress who once came to Zimbabwe in 2013, highlighted the importance of collaborations between musicians.

“I have always wanted to do collaborations with artists from the SADC region and I met Mahachi at the Crown Gospel Awards in Durban that’s when we started talking about the collaboration. I am so much in love with the Zimbabwean beat and I also love the way you guys play the guitar,” she said.

Tatenda Mahachi of the Ndisiye Satan fame cannot wait for the release of ‘A Friend’, which will feature Dr Winnie Mashaba.

“The song is called A Friend and it’s my first time collaborating with a female artist. On the song Winnie also sings in Shona and I am so excited about the collaboration. The song will be released this week,” said Mahachi.

It is not the first time for Mahachi to collaborate with a South African artist, after his 2015 collaboration with the late Sifiso Ncwane, while Mashaba has also collaborated with Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave on her 2021 Amapiano gospel song, Mufaro Washe
