Russian envoy pays courtesy call on Acting President Chiwenga

THE visiting Head of the Russian Federal Agency, Evgeny Primakov has paid a courtesy call on Acting President, General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga.

The Kremlin is set to host the Moscow Expo 2030 and is looking for support from Zimbabwe to ensure the success of the event.

Emerging from a closed-door meeting with Acting President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga, head of the Russian Federal Agency, Evgeny Primakov said they discussed the Moscow Expo 2030 and investment in the tertiary education sector.

“The delegation had several goals of discussion and these are educational projects, scientific exchange, but the main one that has been discussed was our bid to host expo 2030 in Moscow and we hope that Zimbabwe supports us but we are very much positive about that issue,” he said.

The two countries share deep relations that date back to the days of the liberation struggle, with the Kremlin having continued to support Zimbabwe’s economic development and the country’s Geospatial and Space Agency.

Meanwhile, Acting President Chiwenga has visited the Bwakura family to console them after the death of Dr Tapiwanashe Rameck Bwakura who died in South Africa on Sunday.

Dr Rameck Bwakura was an expert in internal medicine and the promotion of specialised clinics meant to offer health services to people living with HIV.

At the time of his death, he was the Head of Division for Internal Medicine and consultancy specialist physician at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
