Zimbabwe Rugby Sables loose forward, Tinotenda Blithe Mavesere’s recent exploits in South Africa have earned him a two year professional contract with the Sharks Franchise.
The dynamic loose forward had a superb season in the Varsity Cup with the University of Western Cape (UWC) and is an integral part of the Zimbabwe national team having already won the Victoria Cup and also representing Zimbabwe Rugby Academy in the Supersport challenge.
Affectionately known as Blithe the Driller, Mavesere will be moving to the Durban franchise that is home to South African captain, Siya Kolisi.
Zimbabwean born Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira also turned out for the Sharks before retiring to the American league.
The Sharks have also been home to a number of Zimbabweans with Tonderai Chavhanga, Bob Skinstad and Cleopas Kundiona donning the famous black Jersey.
However, the 22 year old former Churchill Bulldogs player will have to pull up his socks as Sharks have some of the best loose forwards including Springboks World Cup winning captain, Kolisi and veteran Pepsi Buthelezi.
However, his astronomical rise is a true testament to his qualities and given a chance he has the ability to make it.
