The Zimbabwe national women rugby team, the Lady Sables got their Rugby Africa Cup campaign underway on a poor note after a 41-nil drubbing by Uganda in Kampala this Wednesday.
The Lady Sables were given a reality check by the fitter and more agile Lady Cranes who punished them in the second half when they looked tired.
Zimbabwe started strongly and only conceded one try in the first half and held on for the greater part of the second half, only for the floodgates to open with 20 minutes to go.
A bad day in the office .I think our lack of match fitness was exposed ,look we held on for the greater part of the match, and I think we have a good squad and with more matches behind us we can do much better.Going forward I think we can win the next match we have learnt a lot and it’s a third game behind us now so three is something to work with, said Coach Munya Mhonda.
The Ladies will play their second game this Sunday looking for nothing short of victory to gain points and have a good seeding for the new Global Women’s tournament.
