Robbers get away with US$80k in ATM heist

A gang of robbers got away with US$80 000 in a well-orchestrated money heist at Standard Chartered bank at Newlands Shopping Centre in Harare this afternoon.

The driver of the security company which was on routine replenishment of an ATM at the bank told ZBC News that they were approached by the gang and held at gunpoint, while the other suspects took a cash box which had US$80 000 before the gang sped off.

Police are yet to confirm the incident which occurred at around midday.
