Zimbabweans have been challenged to remain vigilant in the fight against Covid-19 as the risk is still too high, despite the declining cases.
With Covid-19 infections and deaths on the decline and authorities relaxing lockdown restrictions, the Zanu PF leadership in Mashonaland east says citizens should not be complacent as the risk is still too high.
This came out during a provincial coordinating committee in held Marondera this Saturday.
“While the economy has been opened up and lockdown restrictions relaxed we should all remain vigilant as the risk of covid 19 is still very high,” said Dr Parirenyatwa.
“Let us all continue to play it safe and wear our masks so that we continue to fight this virus,” said Dr Sekeramai.
The meeting also observed a minute of silence in honour of national heroes including provincial chairman Joel Biggie Matiza, Major General Retired Paradzai Zimondi and Lieutenant General Retired Douglas Nyikayaramba who all succumbed to the deadly virus early this year.
Acting provincial chairman Mike Madanha pledged to continue with the good work by his predecessor.
“Our late chairman cde matiza was very passionate in the fight against covid 19 and we will continue with his good work.”
Covid-19 infections continue to decline in Mashonaland East, with no case having been reported in the province this Saturday, while a total of 2 869 frontline workers have so far been vaccinated.
