Quartet jailed for stock theft

FOUR Inyanga men have been slapped with a nine-year jail term each after being convicted of stock theft.
The four: Abraham Chaoneka aged 27, Milton Mukwinya (29), Christopher Mucherewesi (43) and Tendai Mukeredzi (40) appeared before a Nyanga magistrate facing stock theft charges, this Saturday.
They were all given the mandatory nine-year jail term after they failed to provide compelling evidence proving that they did not steal a heifer. It is the state’s case that on the 4th of October this year, the four connived to steal the heifer while it was grazing in Nyamhuka village. The court heard that the four then killed the heifer, but an eye witness, who saw them commit the offence reported the quartet to the police, leading to their arrest.
