THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League says it is tightening the screws to ensure compliance with the Club licensing system where only coaches that hold CAF A licenses take charge of top-flight teams.
After incidences where certain clubs felt they were being targeted for not complying with the Confederation of African Football- CAF Club licensing system, the Premier Soccer League has gone further to conduct inspections to ensure top-flight league coaches hold the requisite qualifications.
While there has been concern on whether the CAF A license system is being enforced in all matches, the PSL says match commissioners and referees have the mandate to ensure compliance.
“As PSL we are ensuring that only qualified personnel will sit on technical benches at the PSL matches not just the coaches but everyone who sits in the technical department including the assistant coaches, physiotherapists and fitness trainers and on that note we are working with match commissioners who are monitoring and ensuring that everyone has proper qualifications.
“We will continue doing inspections at all matches to find out that all technical officials hold full qualifications if not they will not be allowed to officials at PSL matches,” said Kudzai Bare, Premier Soccer League spokesperson.
The issue is expected to remain topical as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League moves to Match Day 27 this weekend.
