YOUNG chess sensation, Prosper Matyire maintained top performances at the African junior chess championships in Namibia after registering his 5th victory of the tournament.
Under 10 chess sensation prosper Matyire on Friday maintained the positive form that has seen him emerge among the top under 10 players at the African junior chess championships in Windhoek Namibia.
Matyire on Friday romped to his 5th victory in 7 outings. After going on a 4 game unbeaten run Matyire on Thursday overcame Egyptian Wael Sabriy Mina before tasting defeat for the first time as he went down to South Africa’s Felix Raphael.
On Friday Matyire returned to winning ways, registering his 5th win. Out of 8 games, Matyire has won 5, drawn 1, and lost only once.
The African junior chess championships seek to expose budding players to stiff competition at the continental level. The Africa junior chess championships began on the 14th of this month and are set to end on the 22nd.
