Pres Mnangagwa set to visit Gweru firms this Thursday

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is this Thursday expected to tour three of Gweru’s companies that are doing well in spurring development in the City Of Progress, after putting in place huge capital investments to turn around the economic fortunes of the country.

Cde Mnangagwa is expected to visit cement and brick producing giant SINO Zimbabwe and food producing company Lessafre Zimbabwe Company where he is expected to meet shareholders and senior executives before touring plants of the two companies.

He is later expected to visit Bata Shoe Company where he intends to also meet the company shareholders and executives before commissioning three shoe making machines worth close to US$800 000 in total.

Cde Mnangagwa is expected to commission the Pouring machine which produces school shoes and sandals which was installed at a cost of US$400 000.

Also at Bata, the President is expected to commission the Mostardini machine used for leather platting which was procured at US$150 000 as well as the Sammying machine which is used for processing wet blue hides which was procured at a cost of US$200 000.

The three machines are essential as they are meant to increase the leather value chain in line with the National Development Strategy 1.

The President is later expected to address residents at ‘A Meet The People Rally’ in the Midlands Provincial Capital.
