All is set for the launch of the second stage of the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination programme by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Victoria Falls this Wednesday.

The resort city has already set the tone after hundreds of hospitality industry employees were vaccinated against Covid-19 ahead of the big day.

The SADC region’s tourism hub has set the tone for a safe restart of tourism with hundreds of the hospitality sector employees getting vaccinated.

“I have just received the jab and l must say that it was not painful and the process went on smoothly. I feel very much safe now and given the nature of our industry, prioritisation of the tourism industry in the ongoing vaccination programme is certainly a commendable decision which was taken by the country’s leadership.”

Recent studies point to the emergence of a more health-conscious traveller and the destination is convinced that the government initiated mass Covid-19 vaccination targeting all adults in the resort city has positioned it for increased business after the pandemic.

“It was certainly a strategic decision that government took to prioritise this sector ahead of mining and agriculture. We believe that this will make us a destination of choice post-Covid-19. We are now ready to welcome back international and domestic visitors to this beautiful city which also happens to be the regional tourism hub,” Shearwater Adventures Public Relations Manager Mr Clement Mukwasi said.

Government’s deliberate move to prioritise the country’s tourism capital through the roll out of a mass Covid-19 vaccination exercise is set to pave way for the resumption of increased tourism activities in the resort city, which attracts millions of international visitors annually.

The Second stage of the first Phase of the Covid-19 vaccination programme will be officially launched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa with various political players also expected to be part of the exercise after endorsing the roll out.
