PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched the e-cabinet system which is meant to ensure efficiency among cabinet ministers.
President Mnangagwa said the system is equipped with an electronic granary which allows ease of retrieval and cross-referencing for Cabinet purposes.
“The facility is a good example of public/private sector collaboration on a national project. I urge for more such partnerships across sectors for a hastening of realisation of Vision 2030. As to this historic occasion as we commission the long-awaited e-cabinet system and today marks the completion of phase one of the e-cabinet project which will see cabinet secretariat carrying out paperless administrative and secretarial work,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said through this system, members of the cabinet will able to conduct all the work in the cabinet room and that should expedite cabinet work. The system will result in a robust data base which facilitates easy storage of government information.
“I exhort all relevant stakeholders that necessary security measures are in place to prevent undesirable occurrences or loss of data, the system must be adaptive to new technology as they evolve. In the 2nd Republic, we determine to reform administration and governance of the entire public sector and our goal is to accelerate the modernisation of all operational system. As a nation, the attainment of upper middle class economy must be driven by science and technology hence partnership in this regard will be continued to be supported by government,” he explained.
The coming on stream of the e-cabinet system is expected to see reduced time in conducting cabinet business, a number of countries have adopted the framework which has made it easy in decision making.
