President Mnangagwa invited to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been invited to attend the state funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday next week.

The UK Embassy confirmed on its Twitter page that President Mnangagwa has been invited to attend the funeral to be held on Monday the 19th of September at Westminister Abbey.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s body has been lying in state at Westminister Hall where the public has been paying last respects.

Details released for Monday’s funeral reveal that senior members of the Royal Family will accompany the Queen’s coffin as it goes from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey minutes before the funeral service starts.

King Charles III will walk with his sister, Princess Anne, and brothers, Prince Andrew and Edward, leading the procession from Buckingham Palace, followed by Princes William and Harry as well as Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, and other senior male royals.

After the funeral, there will be another procession, with the carriage and the family walking past Buckingham Palace up Constitution Hill to Wellington Arch.

United Kingdom’s longest serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II died on the 8th of this month at her Scottish estate, Balmoral Castle.
