President Masisi to officially open Zimbabwe Agricultural Show

BOTSWANA President, His Excellency Dr Mogkweetsi Masisi is expected to officially open the 112th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show this Friday.
This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa in a post cabinet media briefing in Harare this Tuesday.
“The nation is being informed that the 112th Edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show commenced on August 29 and will run up to September 3 under the theme, ‘Unequalled Business Opportunities, Accessibility, Accountability, Abundance’,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
“The President of the Republic of Botswana, His Excellency Dr E.M. Masisi will officially open the Show on Friday, 2nd September 2022.”
Cabinet also received a report on the national rainfall forecast for the summer cropping season.
“The nation is being informed that the country is expected to receive normal to above-normal rainfall during the 2022/23 season. The nation will continuously be updated of the rainfall pattern as the season progresses.”
According to the National Grain Status Report which was received by cabinet, the country has a three months wheat cover.
“The total wheat stocks in the country amount to 62 793 metric tonnes. The wheat in the country provides three months cover at an allocation rate of 21 000 metric tonnes per month.”
The Government is also working on measures to curb side marketing of maize to ensure food self-sustenance.
Meanwhile, cabinet also approved the initial report of the United Nations Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography which seeks to promote, protect and respect the rights of children.
