PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has consoled the Mpofu family following the death of Zimbabwe Republic Police Deputy Commissioner (Rtd) Moses Griffiths Mpofu.
In a statement President Mnangagwa said the country has been robbed off a gallant son of the soil. He urged the family to be comforted by the knowledge that the nation stands with them during their time of deep grief.
“While we knew that Deputy Commissioner Mpofu had not been well for sometime, to the extent that he had to be hospitalised our prayerful expectations were for his speedy recovery.”
“His passing on has left a deep wound in our hearts that will be difficult to heal. We shall remember him for his strong virtues of courage, fortitude, patriotism and integrity which he amptly demonstrated before and after independence as a senior officer of the Zimbabwe Republic Police. The life he lived shall continue to inspire our nation, ” President Mnangagwa said.
Deputy Commissioner (Rtd) Mpofu is survived by his wife, Sibonile and four children.
He has since been declared a National Hero and burial arrangments will be announced in due course.
